Effective Date: 2026-05-29 | Version: 1.1

We use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to operate and secure our website and Service, and optional analytics cookies only after you grant consent. This policy explains what cookies are, how we use them, and your choices under EU law.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They help websites remember your preferences and keep you signed in. Some cookies are essential for the site to function, while others are optional (e.g., analytics).

2. How we use cookies

  • Strictly necessary cookies: authentication, security, session management.
  • Preference storage: remember settings you choose (e.g., theme, consent decision).
  • Analytics cookies (optional, consent required): aggregate usage measurement via Google Analytics 4.

2.1 Cookie and Storage List

We currently use the following cookies and local storage:

Name Type Purpose Duration
krlabs-theme Local Storage Remember your light or dark theme preference Persistent until changed or deleted
krlabs-consent Cookie (first-party) Remember your analytics consent choice (granted or denied) 12 months
Cloudflare Turnstile cookies or storage Cookie / Local Storage Spam protection and bot prevention on the contact form Session or short-lived, managed by Cloudflare
_ga, _ga_<container-id> Cookie (Google Analytics 4) Distinguish unique visitors and sessions for aggregate site analytics. Set only after you accept analytics consent. Up to 24 months

3. Legal basis

We use strictly necessary cookies under our legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and to provide the Service (Art. 6(1)(b)). Analytics cookies are set only with your prior consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and § 165 (3) TKG 2021). You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 4).

3.1 Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to help us understand aggregate site usage (e.g., which pages are visited, referrers, device categories). We have enabled IP anonymisation and Google Consent Mode v2, so no analytics cookies are set and no personal identifiers are stored before you accept. If you accept, data may be transferred to and processed in the United States by Google LLC under EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For more information, see Google's privacy policy.

4. Managing cookies and withdrawing consent

You can manage cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the site from functioning correctly. To withdraw analytics consent after accepting, delete the krlabs-consent cookie (and the _ga* cookies) in your browser; the consent banner will appear again on your next visit.

5. Retention

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period unless you delete them earlier.
